My Holy Grail BJD

[By the way, I STILL cannot reply to comments, so I'm sorry if it looks like I'm ignoring you. Thanks for the support "The Grandmommy!"]

So I figure your first BJD has to be special right? I went searching. I thought a lot of them looked alike and I definitely wanted an African American doll. But it was slim pickin's out there.

But I accidentally came across Dollmore's Keely Sum on the The Doll Page. Not sure how I felt about the open mouth but it kinda reminded me of FKA Twigs. I've never seen that girl's lips closed. I'm tempted to make an FKA Twigs wig. With sculpted baby hair and all. Anyway.

Keely is pretty adorable.
 And also pretty hot.
 Really versatile.

She can even do edgy.

And she was an okay goal but then I saw Iplehouse's Ashanti and I've been in love ever since. Sorry Keely.

I want this skintone and face-up. And hair and outfit. My character is a warrior for hire in a post apocalyptic world.  I don't know her name yet. But this tough girl bitch face and black leather is just perfect.

I would have gone for this face up but look at those sad girl eyebrows. She can't kick anyone's ass.

This was another Ashanti they did as a special edition. You can always order her in any shade. I love Iplehouse. So beautiful. Though I hear they are not easy to pose.

I mean, for serious. This girl kills me!

BUT, I can't afford this $800 bitch so she's on hold until I can save up to get her, a coupla wigs and this outfit:

Or maybe this one. Surely there are master leather-workers after the fall.

  1. OMG! I am closing my friggin eyes before I get caught up! LOL HOT!

  2. Wow! I can clearly see why you love them. OMG! They are beautiful!

  3. They are stunning and I can see why they'd be any budding photographer's! I adore Tahlia (FKA Twigs) she so follows her own drum. I hate the racial hate she's been getting for dating Robert Pattinson. Anyway...the BJD dolls are amazing!

  4. If I had to fall it would be Ashanti for sure. She is gorgeous

  5. I saw that doll on another site and immediately thought of FKA Twigs, lol. I even thought it was actually supposed to be her!!!

Doll Dyeing

So I had this BJD friend with this sad doll that I just fell in love with.  I knew they had issues bonding and I knew that baby had to be mine. I told her to let me know if she ever wanted to sell. She didn't do that but listed her anyway. (I thought we were cool, man.)  I was very lucky that the first person who wanted her stepped aside.  I thought if I lost this girl I would have a breakdown.

You see, she was very special.  She had a history.  Here's what I can gather:  she was purchased by this shady ass dude in the hobby. Everyone knows he is shady.
So he hired a faceup artist to paint the face and give her scarring. He never explained that he wanted raised scars, not gashes in the resin.  I've seen the proof that she wrote up the agreement for this guy and the work was just GORGEOUS.

He claims she damaged it. Whatever.  So apparently there were attempts from this guy to sell her with no luck and he eventually gave it away and my doll acquaintance won her.  She dyed h…

Re-introducing Aniata and her Diorama

Hello Doll Peeps!

I have loads of new items for sale so click on the shopping ladies on the right. Most of the first tier stuff is gone so lots of discounted stuff!

When we last spoke, my doll was named Kala. I had posted her in the BJD Addicts group and a few people remarked that she looked like a Taino. My family is Haitian and my husband's is Puerto Rican, the Tainos lived in both. I thought this was fortuitous. So I emailed my aunt, a fan of the Taino and told her about the doll and that I needed a new name. Kala was always supposed to be temporary and I feared it was taking hold.

She said, "I feel like her name is Aniata." And I knew it was right. It's hard to get the tongue around but if you just pronounce the T softly, like in Anita, then it's much more natural.

Anyway introducing Aniata!  (Doll nudity ahead.)

I've been working on the hut like crazy since the last post. While I waited for paint and glue to dry, I made Aniata stuff. I made her necklace…

An Official Farewell

Hi Guys,

I don't know if you're still reading this but I'm officially taking this blog offline. It was so fun to be part of the 1/6th scale doll community and on Facebook at least, I still am. But I feel like the BJD community is mostly on other platforms.

I'll always be at and you can reach me at the gmail of the same name.  Hey, I may even start a blog over on the site, so who knows?

Here's a picture of nearly all my doll family (missing Doll Chateau Alma, who doesn't have a face up yet, and an Impldoll Martin head.)

EDIT: Blogger will STILL not let me comment. haha.  Anyway, due to the very positive response, I will not take this blog down. I remember how heartbroken I was that Smidgehouse didn't leave hers up. So I'll keep this here forever, okay?

I might even post a link to any blog posts on my website. See you...always!

It's be great collecting and growing with you!
