Following my Follower

Good morning all,

I finally have a follower! It's Smidge Girl from Smidge House. Her blog is awesome. Her voice is so funny and down to earth. She also builds beautiful and affordable 1/6th scale furniture which you can find in her Etsy shop. Thanks for showing support Smidge Girl!

A while back she reorganized her office and I was inspired. The Hubs and I have decided to stay another year in this little house we don't much like in the interest of not spending thousands on a move when we have another Barbie shoe eater on the way. So it's time to accept my office for what it is and try to make it work.

My main problem, as Smidge Girl also mentioned is working on one project, then seeing something else that reminds you to work on another one. I have so many things in my project inbox that it's overwhelming sometimes. So I'll have half completed projects all over the place!

I'd like to say I'll take it one room at a time, but I know it's a lie. I'll see a piece that I painted all white in preparation for a repaint that never happens.

Remember that Human League video for Fascination? Oh, you weren't born yet? Hmmph.

Yeah, things tend to look all monochrome like that for a while in my doll land.

Anyway back to organizing. I realized all the doll furniture sitting in a bin just means I have this bin to store and my doll house are just filled with junk: paint, old jewelry to turn into doll jewelry or whatever, brushes, pens, rulers, etc?

So better to get all the doll furniture out and place it in the location where it will live.

So here's my "Before" (yes I'm filled with shame as I share this picture. Bear in mind it's also my dressing room and I hate hanging up clothes:)

After:

Ooops, you have a glimpse of my not so secret Gypsy Caravan. Loads more work to do but I'm off to a good start. I've always wanted a doll room with houses waist high with storage beneath. (Keeps little hands out, easier to photograph and easy on my back!) My workspace (that space above the blue bin) is currently covered in boxes because I'm a sicko who can't seem to throw anything away.

I can't wait to show you guys when I finally have it all set up. Stay tuned! I'd love to see your work spaces too!

smooches,
dani

  1. Oh my goodness! I was just scrolling through my dashboard and saw my name, lol! Thank you so much for the amazing mention-- you are far too kind! I just discovered your blog a couple of days ago, and did the little happy dance I tend to do when I know I've found a really good one! I adore your writing style as well-- you make me laugh, and you love parenthesis nearly as much as I do, lol!

Boy, do I know what you mean about the organizing! I'm in a constant state of "figuring it out," whatever that means! (Basically, these days, it means moving boxes from one shelf to another, and then moving them back, lol) I am drooling big time over your doll room, I just want to peek inside every little box & bin! And you must, must, must show pictures of your Gypsy Caravan!

Welcome to the world of sixth scale and blogging! I'm thrilled to be your first follower, and can't wait to see what all you'll be up to here!

  2. Thanks so much for the support! I'm totally in love with your blog and I am drooling over the sleazy motel room for HBO!

Okay I will show the gypsy caravan. It's still in the works but since I have other projects distracting me, I might as well!

See you in the blogosphere. PS: love the new couches!

Grandville Summer Festival!

Hello doll friends, First up, I gotta show you this. My 4 year old was playing with my Barbie cast-offs and set up this little scene. (That yellow thing on the table is a TV shaped eraser.) Dig the lamp she made with a wedding cake and the pole from maybe a Barbie dress form? Adorbs. Anyway, this weather (raining pretty much daily for the last month or so) has wrecked my spray painting plans. Much of the royal storyline rests on this painting project. So for now I decided to continue the other stories I have going. Enjoy: "Ho-ly crap, what on earth are you wearing?" "Aw, Sook, I feel bad enough."   "Seriously. You are wearing khakis. You look cray cray. You're like somebody's mom right now. Please explain this situation." "My boss said my outfit was too sexy so I had to borrow something from Le Skater Dork over there at the cafe. Jeez, now I owe her one. Oh crap Channel 1 News is here."   "Thanks John. Lavita

Zee Gypsies!

I'm home today, the kids are at school (half day), so I decided to take some pictures with my little window of time. I rarely show the gypsies and one of you guys requested it, so here they are! "Hello, I am Carmen Kirpachi. Welcome to our home." "This is my husband Milosh." "Hallo."  "This is my brother, Franco. While his gaje girlfriend Josephine is in Paris, he's spending a lot more time with us." "Excuse me, I have to put some more wood in the stove so I can get dinner started." "My goat stew is Milosh's favorite but we need to get the pot hot first." "This is my living area, also known as Franco's bedroom. But we don't mind. The Romany love having family around." "Milosh says I drive like a fugitive so he doesn't let me drive very often." "But sometimes I put a glamour on him and he forgets how much he hates my driving." "

Introducing Nymeria and the Alurium Vaccarra

Ever have a couple of days off Facebook and though you wonder what happened to your friends over the long weekend, you can help feeling a little peaceful? That's how I feel in my week of staying off the blogs and forums and various sites. But I missed a lot! So many cool posts! It's going to take a while to dig myself out. One must wonder, did my creative spurt have something to do with not being all over the web looking at what everyone else is doing? Anyway let's get to it. So on my birthday, my three Stardolls arrived! Aside from the outfit, that Paris one was not cute. I dunno, she's too boring looking. But Iris was THRILLED that she got a new, dressed doll. Well for a few minutes anyway. Did you know that they can't bend their legs? Like they can't sit down? Terrible. Anyway, the other two were great! Inspiring. Meet Valentina. A Columbiana who restores classic cars. She was very happy with a Liv body. She might be Nadia's next girlfriend, w
