Una Familia Latina!

My friends, life has been very challenging since I decided to rearrange room. I finally had to separate the girls again so someone in the house can get some sleep. Then Isobel decided to cut what must be the biggest tooth ever to emerge from tiny gums. Then Isobel very suddenly is allergic to strawberries and breaks out in a rash everywhere. What? But you've been eating them for months!

Anyway, little doll action has happened for the last couple of weeks. Buuuuut, we got a sweet tax return and I got some dolls I've been wanting for a while.

So let me introduce, Alejandra (Alex) Figueroa, Grandville's school teacher:

I didn't see Hispanic when I looked at her but the Hubs was adamant that she looked Puerto Rican. The more I look at her, the more I see it. Like Maria on Sesame Street.

She's a real two-face, she's totally different from another angle or in different light.

Here profile is elf-like, no? Reminds me of old timey Dynamite Girls or Eve Kittens. Her posability is horrible. She knees always want to bend, she's all hunchy flimsy. And her stand is too tall for her. Boo.

 She is so pretty.
This is her husband, Jose Figueroa, a congressman.

Jose: Be sure to get out there and vote today--
Alex: Honey, we're not doing that right now, we're just meeting some flesh humans.
Awww. They were high school sweethearts. The broke up as they went to separate colleges and for many years after that. Then reunited and tied the knot.

They have two daughters, but I've only purchased one and here she is:

Aria Figueroa, gamer and college student.

Did you guys ever watch Absolutely Fabulous? Remember Pasty's older sister? That's who Alex here reminds me of. (The one with the cigarette in the video.) If it wants to work.

Also you guys remember I told you about Svetlana and Alex at BuildingIdea? I love their stuff and the prices are really reasonable. Something told me to get a dresser. I guess I'll give this to Felix and Dani when I make them a new house.

Sturdy construction and all the drawers open!
I do have a black 1:1 shelf that would make an awesome home but I hesitate to give it to Dani and Felix (jeez, what is his last name? I thought I gave him one...) BECAUSE this goddess has come to live with me.

She's so gorgeous. I had to rush in between frantic baby cries and doll deboxing so I didn't get to enjoy her much. I did manage to cut her cheek with a box cutter. Good job Dani.

Her name is Bianca because every time I saw her name "Bionica Jordan", I kept seeing "Bianca Jordan". She's going to be Josephine Baker's older sister, mother to Remi and Nikki. She's richer, more beautiful and has more successful marriages than her sister. And she likes to remind Josephine of that from time to time. She hears she is a grandmother now and has come meet the imp that cast a blight on her youth.

She needs a house, no?

Okay that's it for now. I think this weekend I will organize the doll clothes by type of person. I tried making individual wardrobes for each doll but how do you even store that?  So a goth/punk bin, an older lady bin, etc. We'll see how that one goes...

  1. Love your Darla and your Jordan! They are both beautiful I've seen quite a few Darlas lately and I love her more each time I see her. She is one of those dolls that can cross cultural lines without question. That was the prettiest Jordan out of the three, and I thought I was going to have to buy her, until I painted my Jordan. Problem solved. Can't wait to see their future stories.

Poor Isobel. She seems to be having a time over there. Give her lots of love. She sounds like she needs it.

Grandville Summer Festival!

Hello doll friends, First up, I gotta show you this. My 4 year old was playing with my Barbie cast-offs and set up this little scene. (That yellow thing on the table is a TV shaped eraser.) Dig the lamp she made with a wedding cake and the pole from maybe a Barbie dress form? Adorbs. Anyway, this weather (raining pretty much daily for the last month or so) has wrecked my spray painting plans. Much of the royal storyline rests on this painting project. So for now I decided to continue the other stories I have going. Enjoy: "Ho-ly crap, what on earth are you wearing?" "Aw, Sook, I feel bad enough."   "Seriously. You are wearing khakis. You look cray cray. You're like somebody's mom right now. Please explain this situation." "My boss said my outfit was too sexy so I had to borrow something from Le Skater Dork over there at the cafe. Jeez, now I owe her one. Oh crap Channel 1 News is here."   "Thanks John. Lavita

Zee Gypsies!

I'm home today, the kids are at school (half day), so I decided to take some pictures with my little window of time. I rarely show the gypsies and one of you guys requested it, so here they are! "Hello, I am Carmen Kirpachi. Welcome to our home." "This is my husband Milosh." "Hallo."  "This is my brother, Franco. While his gaje girlfriend Josephine is in Paris, he's spending a lot more time with us." "Excuse me, I have to put some more wood in the stove so I can get dinner started." "My goat stew is Milosh's favorite but we need to get the pot hot first." "This is my living area, also known as Franco's bedroom. But we don't mind. The Romany love having family around." "Milosh says I drive like a fugitive so he doesn't let me drive very often." "But sometimes I put a glamour on him and he forgets how much he hates my driving." "

Introducing Nymeria and the Alurium Vaccarra

Ever have a couple of days off Facebook and though you wonder what happened to your friends over the long weekend, you can help feeling a little peaceful? That's how I feel in my week of staying off the blogs and forums and various sites. But I missed a lot! So many cool posts! It's going to take a while to dig myself out. One must wonder, did my creative spurt have something to do with not being all over the web looking at what everyone else is doing? Anyway let's get to it. So on my birthday, my three Stardolls arrived! Aside from the outfit, that Paris one was not cute. I dunno, she's too boring looking. But Iris was THRILLED that she got a new, dressed doll. Well for a few minutes anyway. Did you know that they can't bend their legs? Like they can't sit down? Terrible. Anyway, the other two were great! Inspiring. Meet Valentina. A Columbiana who restores classic cars. She was very happy with a Liv body. She might be Nadia's next girlfriend, w
