Back with a Vengeance!

Sometimes I get bummed out when I see doll folks doing stuff I'm doing or what I've talked about doing. But I've come to realize that whether they are better than me or a pale imitation, whether they are intentionally copy-catting or just part of the collective consciousness, my voice in the doll world is unique. And me being absent leaves a void that some usurper is going to fill. Without me, where would your dolls know where to get the good drugs and whores? (hee)

So I'm back basically. I'm working on a real post with the projects I've been working on, so sit tight. This weekend I'll post something.

Fun News:

  • The Hubs and I are sharing a studio space now, so lots of space for noise and chemicals. YAY!
  • Two Barbies are on their way!
  • I have a stay-cation coming up so I might finally have time to work on the photostories surrounding the wedding. Stay tuned!
  • The website is being updated: www.vitaplastica.com  It's basically changing every day until I am happy with it.
Missed you!
Dani

  2. Thanks Verona! Oh man, Hanna has one devil of a story line coming up. What are we going to do with her? I'm sorry I'm not following your blog. I am going to remedy that immediately!

  3. I can't wait to see! Admittedly, I don't always comment, but I have read every single one ever since I became a follower! I've always loved how you had whole families of dolls... and they're organized that way.... I don't know why, but with my guys it just doesn't seem likely to happen (unless they start making parents for all these unruly kids...) So I LOVE seeing yours set up like that.

New Goodies!

But first, some news: Projects: Still working on the studio space for Remi and Bailey. The Hubs came in and voiced what was in my head, "So where is that kid supposed to sleep? That's messed up. There's no room for him?"  The last thing I wanted in Grandville is a kid's room. I don't want this rated R world changing into something wholesome. Buuut, if there is to be a custody battle for Julian, I have to make the case, right? So on top of the studio space, I'll build a little room for the brat to use. Maybe I'll give it a fun theme or something. Space or sci-fi or something that doesn't involve sports. I'm also working on a space backdrop for Nymeria and her sister. Then I can finally introduce you. I decided to go with a sort of cheesy 60's sci fi movie thing. That's what inspired the Alurium Vaccarra anyway. So, a sort of intentionally cartoony backdrop. The last project for now is my high school. I wanted it to be a three-...

[in that spongebob narrator voice] Ten Years Later

Well friends, it's been 10 years!  I'm not sure if any of my older friends and followers still blog or still read blogs.  I've been in the BJD hobby all this time a while it was satisfying and helped me to grow a lot as a dioramist, the call of the 1/6 scale dolls called back to me.   It was hard to make stories for BJDs because of the limited number of characters and sets.  While I no longer have a town to make stories with, nor (hardly) any of my original dolls, my new collection continues to grow and some of them are just itching to tell you all about themselves.  But these heauxs don't even have names except for two.  So lemme get on that... Returning to this hobby feels a bit lonely. My doll community was here in the blogosphere, my BJD community was through youtube and Facebook. Where are you, racy playscale collectors?  Let's get back together!  Instagram feels unsuitable for my needs. I'll see if I can direct traffic here. Who k...

Introducing Ayumi

I haven't been feeling particularly inspired with stories in Grandville, but their plastic lives are being led, with or without my story telling. And I have to practice my photography so instead I'm going to do a Cliff Notes if you will, of what has been going on in Grandville and who all these new characters are. First up, Ayumi. I might give her a new name at some point. I hate keeping the Integrity name but sometimes it just happens. She is a Korean supermodel who uses her funds to support her research as an astrophysicist. She got her Ph.D. at 18. This is Ayumi's house. Well, one of them. This is Ayumi's boyfriend of 10 months, Raj Nirvana. He's a yoga instructor. They have a harmonious relationship. Still, she wonders about that girl Marie. They seem to do a lot of talking after his yoga class. Ayumi loves hanging out with her girls. Nothing quite as fun as a day of shopping. Claire sighs, "How weird to have a bank account. ...
