I'm a Jerk

So the Year of Luxury keeps on churning. I'm not working because the US won't give a mom a proper maternity leave. So we have little income now. That hasn't stopped me spending our savings and just hoping rent money would work itself out. That's what you have to do in the Year of Luxury.

So anyway, our tax return came through way early. I went to Walmart, got some little do-dads like mini frames and fabric glue. But still, with money in the bank, I just itched for a new doll. I decided it was time for my first Momoko, but didn't mention it to my husband. Here he is spending money on getting new tires and bills and stuff. I'm so irresponsible.

I go to our online bank and see there is some money that has been spent on Paypal. Grr, has he purchased more damn comic books? How dare he when I am basically out of work! The nerve! So I go into our ebay account to investigate.

And you know what you guys? He secretly bought me a Poppy Parker! And for a bargain! I feel so veklempt. I'm a jerk. I ruined this awesome surprise! He loves giving surprises! (I hate them) Now I know what I should not and I feel really bad.

Sort of torn about acting surprised or not...Makes me think about the openness of our relationship. How can you surprise a spouse when you share everything?

Good thing he doesn't read the blog much!

Anyway you guys, Coney Island Poppy! She's nude, but that little outfit isn't much anyway. I know I wanted to repaint a Poppy to look like my daughter, but um, maybe another doll, another time...

  1. You're not a jerk..I've been known to insert foot in mouth from time to time. I apologize to my hunny even for things I thought and I tell him and we laugh. I say you mention it casually and have a laugh over it :O)(Pseudo convo below)

  2. That is so awesome! It's great when your mate supports even our smallest pleasures. And...you're not a jerk. Just get to practicing your surprised look in the mirror while waiting for your new girl. LOL

  3. Thanks you guys. I ended up confessing over dinner last night. My lead-in had him convinced I was about to confess to an affair. hahah! He is really supportive. Just when I think he is seeing too much of the dolly-crackhead in me, I find he really enjoys it. He collects toys too (and magazines and records and comics and baseball cards) so he gets it.

Introducing Ayumi

I haven't been feeling particularly inspired with stories in Grandville, but their plastic lives are being led, with or without my story telling. And I have to practice my photography so instead I'm going to do a Cliff Notes if you will, of what has been going on in Grandville and who all these new characters are. First up, Ayumi. I might give her a new name at some point. I hate keeping the Integrity name but sometimes it just happens. She is a Korean supermodel who uses her funds to support her research as an astrophysicist. She got her Ph.D. at 18. This is Ayumi's house. Well, one of them. This is Ayumi's boyfriend of 10 months, Raj Nirvana. He's a yoga instructor. They have a harmonious relationship. Still, she wonders about that girl Marie. They seem to do a lot of talking after his yoga class. Ayumi loves hanging out with her girls. Nothing quite as fun as a day of shopping. Claire sighs, "How weird to have a bank account. ...

New Goodies!

But first, some news: Projects: Still working on the studio space for Remi and Bailey. The Hubs came in and voiced what was in my head, "So where is that kid supposed to sleep? That's messed up. There's no room for him?"  The last thing I wanted in Grandville is a kid's room. I don't want this rated R world changing into something wholesome. Buuut, if there is to be a custody battle for Julian, I have to make the case, right? So on top of the studio space, I'll build a little room for the brat to use. Maybe I'll give it a fun theme or something. Space or sci-fi or something that doesn't involve sports. I'm also working on a space backdrop for Nymeria and her sister. Then I can finally introduce you. I decided to go with a sort of cheesy 60's sci fi movie thing. That's what inspired the Alurium Vaccarra anyway. So, a sort of intentionally cartoony backdrop. The last project for now is my high school. I wanted it to be a three-...

[in that spongebob narrator voice] Ten Years Later

Well friends, it's been 10 years!  I'm not sure if any of my older friends and followers still blog or still read blogs.  I've been in the BJD hobby all this time a while it was satisfying and helped me to grow a lot as a dioramist, the call of the 1/6 scale dolls called back to me.   It was hard to make stories for BJDs because of the limited number of characters and sets.  While I no longer have a town to make stories with, nor (hardly) any of my original dolls, my new collection continues to grow and some of them are just itching to tell you all about themselves.  But these heauxs don't even have names except for two.  So lemme get on that... Returning to this hobby feels a bit lonely. My doll community was here in the blogosphere, my BJD community was through youtube and Facebook. Where are you, racy playscale collectors?  Let's get back together!  Instagram feels unsuitable for my needs. I'll see if I can direct traffic here. Who k...
