Score!

So last week the Hubs tells me the neighbors put some weird shelves outside. One in the shape of a boat, the other a lighthouse. I was intrigued, then obsessed. I have been thinking of a few things lately. My future doll room (done up like a little town), the name of the town, quality, location, etc.

Sounds like I'm on a tangent, but it's all related. But first, pretend you are me watching this potential greatness on the other side of the fence. Watch this thing sit out in torrential rain. Unappreciated, unloved.

So anyway, I had always thought of my doll town as Manhattan or Paris, but I started thinking about a smaller city. A small town even. But a posh one. I thought of mountains. I started researching mountain towns in southern France. There is one, Foix, I think that surrounds a little castle called "The Chateau". I started to imagine my upscale tourist village with spas and ski, etc.

Okay so imagine a room with sky blue walls, a sun, some grass or whatever, a road, sidewalk, etc. (all built up on tables so you can photograph and store stuff). An airplane or two dangling from the ceiling. And murals of mountains. Maybe I'll have a Chateau as well where all my sci-fi, supernatural stuff might take place.

But anyway, above the crashing waves on a lonely cliff (or point, as I believe they call it) is my lighthouse. I actually have a character lost at sea at this is a great way to bring him back! (Don't get excited, at this rate, it will be a couple of years until you see him)

Today was an exceptionally beautiful day so I took the kids out and I see a dude in the backyard next door. He's a friend of the homeowner and agrees to ask for me. The owner wants $10. A ripoff, but this is one of those tacky pieces of junk you just find by chance at a yard sale. Who knows when I could do this again.

So now it's ours! (Meaning you and me people). Okay see it below. Joe is there for size reference:

I'll be ripping out some shelves, building a staircase (or maybe the My Scene spiral stairs that I never use. I'll have to build a lantern thingy on top which should be fun. A sad little bed maybe. He has to be the lonely, yet inexplicably hot lighthouse keeper...

I want to extend the second tier so he can take a lonely walk overlooking the sea, his harsh mistress.

I'll be doing a lot of lighthouse research so I can make it purdy. This is gonna be fun, right?

Now since I have a lighthouse, I'll be required a boat or two. Damn this hobby.

In other news, I'm working on the lingerie making challenge for the Figurevore board. It's due today but I'll just have to be late. It's going so well that I'm thinking of making a collection of these things for my dolls. More will be revealed soon...

smooches,
dani

PS: Oh yeah, the name of the town. I'm not 100% yet.

Grandville Summer Festival!

Hello doll friends, First up, I gotta show you this. My 4 year old was playing with my Barbie cast-offs and set up this little scene. (That yellow thing on the table is a TV shaped eraser.) Dig the lamp she made with a wedding cake and the pole from maybe a Barbie dress form? Adorbs. Anyway, this weather (raining pretty much daily for the last month or so) has wrecked my spray painting plans. Much of the royal storyline rests on this painting project. So for now I decided to continue the other stories I have going. Enjoy: "Ho-ly crap, what on earth are you wearing?" "Aw, Sook, I feel bad enough."   "Seriously. You are wearing khakis. You look cray cray. You're like somebody's mom right now. Please explain this situation." "My boss said my outfit was too sexy so I had to borrow something from Le Skater Dork over there at the cafe. Jeez, now I owe her one. Oh crap Channel 1 News is here."   "Thanks John. Lavita...

Introducing Ayumi

I haven't been feeling particularly inspired with stories in Grandville, but their plastic lives are being led, with or without my story telling. And I have to practice my photography so instead I'm going to do a Cliff Notes if you will, of what has been going on in Grandville and who all these new characters are. First up, Ayumi. I might give her a new name at some point. I hate keeping the Integrity name but sometimes it just happens. She is a Korean supermodel who uses her funds to support her research as an astrophysicist. She got her Ph.D. at 18. This is Ayumi's house. Well, one of them. This is Ayumi's boyfriend of 10 months, Raj Nirvana. He's a yoga instructor. They have a harmonious relationship. Still, she wonders about that girl Marie. They seem to do a lot of talking after his yoga class. Ayumi loves hanging out with her girls. Nothing quite as fun as a day of shopping. Claire sighs, "How weird to have a bank account. ...

Ugh whatever. Just, here!

Folks, lemme tell you, I am so tired of my little big project. The big stuff was easy (spray painting and such). That was over weeks and weeks ago. It's been the small stuff. And I'm still nowhere near done but I'll do the rest in Phase Two (Bailey and Remi's wedding). I miss my dolls so hard. I have two new beauties I haven't even taken shots of. I have pretty new clothes that just sit around, unworn, unappreciated, unphotographed. Stories untold! All for this shizz. Before: And today, Grandville's food truck, Enchanted Eats! Lights! "Lavita Terrell here for Channel One News, Grandville. I'm here with Mistress Ava Stronghold in front her food truck, Enchanted Eats!" "Mistress Ava, food trucks are so last week. Why bother? What makes Enchanted Eats different?" "I've got to disagree Lavita. Food trucks have been around as long as humans have had markets. They're just taking a new form. I thin...
