Just a quickie

Hey guys and gals,

This isn't going to be much of a post, but wanted to share a few pics. Nymeria's sister is basically done, I just have to work on a backdrop and I'll introduce her.

I wanted to show you what the storefront that took me forever to complete. I did a lot of experimenting, ran into numerous problems but I'm happy with the result and I know much better ways to complete it now.

So it's made out of polystyrene foam. I should have just carved the brick into the foam but I had this wacky idea to do papier mache over it, then I didn't like the stripey texture of my paper strips, so I went over it with  this wood filler I had laying around. Then painted and painted again. I must have made 4 doors until I had something I could work with.

I just have to make my store sign and it's done. Maybe some flyers for the window. And some method of attaching it. Maybe velcro? I don't want it to be permanent.

Also, my niece just went off to college and gave me a couple of goodies. One is a circular shoe rack with three tiers. I'll be hanging up doll clothes on it. I've already run out of hangers so I'm thinking of getting those clip things. I thought I took a shot if it, but I guess not..

Anyway, she also gave me a bin drawer thingy where she held her massive amounts of makeup.

I still feel really unorganized and I'm thinking of boxing up loads of unused stuff to give to the kids when they come of age. I hate sports, why do I have so much sporting equipment?

Anyway dolls, I'm taking a real break from making doll stuff. I need to focus on Grandville. Storefronts and exteriors for my homes. Improving some homes I have, etc.

smooches,
dani

  5. Love your storefront. Phenomenal job on that door! Do you know how much money you saved on those bins? Why is organizing so expensive.

  6. Thanks guys! Organizing really is expensive. The shoebox bins were a great deal at Walmart too. I think it was 3 for $4 or something.

I finished designing the store sign, so I'll post that soon!

Introducing Ayumi

I haven't been feeling particularly inspired with stories in Grandville, but their plastic lives are being led, with or without my story telling. And I have to practice my photography so instead I'm going to do a Cliff Notes if you will, of what has been going on in Grandville and who all these new characters are. First up, Ayumi. I might give her a new name at some point. I hate keeping the Integrity name but sometimes it just happens. She is a Korean supermodel who uses her funds to support her research as an astrophysicist. She got her Ph.D. at 18. This is Ayumi's house. Well, one of them. This is Ayumi's boyfriend of 10 months, Raj Nirvana. He's a yoga instructor. They have a harmonious relationship. Still, she wonders about that girl Marie. They seem to do a lot of talking after his yoga class. Ayumi loves hanging out with her girls. Nothing quite as fun as a day of shopping. Claire sighs, "How weird to have a bank account. ...

Grandville Summer Festival!

Hello doll friends, First up, I gotta show you this. My 4 year old was playing with my Barbie cast-offs and set up this little scene. (That yellow thing on the table is a TV shaped eraser.) Dig the lamp she made with a wedding cake and the pole from maybe a Barbie dress form? Adorbs. Anyway, this weather (raining pretty much daily for the last month or so) has wrecked my spray painting plans. Much of the royal storyline rests on this painting project. So for now I decided to continue the other stories I have going. Enjoy: "Ho-ly crap, what on earth are you wearing?" "Aw, Sook, I feel bad enough."   "Seriously. You are wearing khakis. You look cray cray. You're like somebody's mom right now. Please explain this situation." "My boss said my outfit was too sexy so I had to borrow something from Le Skater Dork over there at the cafe. Jeez, now I owe her one. Oh crap Channel 1 News is here."   "Thanks John. Lavita...

New Goodies!

But first, some news: Projects: Still working on the studio space for Remi and Bailey. The Hubs came in and voiced what was in my head, "So where is that kid supposed to sleep? That's messed up. There's no room for him?"  The last thing I wanted in Grandville is a kid's room. I don't want this rated R world changing into something wholesome. Buuut, if there is to be a custody battle for Julian, I have to make the case, right? So on top of the studio space, I'll build a little room for the brat to use. Maybe I'll give it a fun theme or something. Space or sci-fi or something that doesn't involve sports. I'm also working on a space backdrop for Nymeria and her sister. Then I can finally introduce you. I decided to go with a sort of cheesy 60's sci fi movie thing. That's what inspired the Alurium Vaccarra anyway. So, a sort of intentionally cartoony backdrop. The last project for now is my high school. I wanted it to be a three-...
