New Things Happening in Grandville

Man, I did a whole photostory in Comic Life, then my computer froze up on me and I lost everything. But soon, my pretties.

I took today off and though I haven't done much doll work lately, the kids were at pre-school and I was drawn to the doll room. So I changed some things up. First up is the used record and comic book shop, Hot Wax and Heroes. I made the sign, changed it up inside and put store hours and stuff on the door. I had an "Open" sign but I have no idea where it is. I ended up using velcro to attach the storefront to the "building", so I'm not going to fret that it's totally crooked in these shots.

Damn door handle fell off. To the glue gun!  Not sure about the seating area beside it but I wanted a place for Remi to do some graffiti and maybe for poor Ian to take a break.

Next is a mock up of an idea I'm playing with. I want to make Grandville better to look at when you walk in the room and that means storefronts and home exteriors. So to start the towny feeling of the space, I'm thinking of moving the park next to the gypsies.

Since my cafe never really did it for me, I thought of an outdoor concession type area. I could see the teens using this before a fancy pants cafe. (Hmm, but now thinking I should have a dark little beatnik coffee house...) The kids are already stealing chairs, so we'll see how this goes... (UPDATE: The outdoor eating area will have flagstone flooring if I decide to keep it.)

Sorry, didn't remove the backdrop when I rearranged all the homes. I need some backdrops BAD! I admire you who work around it so well.

Remi and Bailey got a bigger place now that I've decided to turn the Ikea Expedit shelf into Fear Manor. I kicked out these two and Hanna.  In their place will be a dining room, an office and a bathroom.

Anyway, Remi is hecka tall, so I'm either going to have to make some alterations or just build them some walls. Love this little house, but they are cool creative people and deserve some kind of loft type space...

I moved Tallulah to the cafe (which is on the roof of Fear Manor). With the French doors on her house, there wasn't enough wall space and they had started going a little haywire anyway. Sorry for the mess, I'm surprised they're even upright.

I forgot to write about my Victor. We'll I'm not sure what I'll name him. Dani's father is Victor and was barely introduced. His hair was a fright. Some of the hair on these Integrity boys is a mess. But it was a great opportunity to do some flocking:

I'm trying these out as a couple but she has a kind of older lady vibe. Maybe if I get that man some clothes and glasses it will do it. I'm using all my willpower to not take her hair down.

And here we have the village pariah Hanna next to Tallulah. You'll see why she's so sad maybe next weekish.

smooches!

    1. Thanks GG! I read in Em'lia's flickr that you could put drops of glue then flock them to make a kind of curly look but it looked a lot like a head full of boils. Lesson learned!

  4. You always do amazing things! I'd love to have a place like Hot Wax and Heroes in my town! I think that Victor can stays as he is, even if Tallulah has an old lady vibe, he could be her toy boy

    1. Thanks Sergio! My husband is a DJ, music collector and comic book collector. We fantasize about having a used book/comic/record store one day but we'd never want to sell any of it!

    1. It's a small room but works for the dolls. Now if I had tables all the same height and width...

  8. I like Victor and Tallulah as a couple. Don't try to make him look older. Let her be older than him. Cute couple.

    1. Thanks for commenting ZDollCloset. In my latest post, you'll see I took her hair down. She's got a less stuffy vibe now at least! Not that there's anything wrong with an older woman! But she sure doesn't have to go around in a tight bun all the time.

Grandville Summer Festival!

Hello doll friends, First up, I gotta show you this. My 4 year old was playing with my Barbie cast-offs and set up this little scene. (That yellow thing on the table is a TV shaped eraser.) Dig the lamp she made with a wedding cake and the pole from maybe a Barbie dress form? Adorbs. Anyway, this weather (raining pretty much daily for the last month or so) has wrecked my spray painting plans. Much of the royal storyline rests on this painting project. So for now I decided to continue the other stories I have going. Enjoy: "Ho-ly crap, what on earth are you wearing?" "Aw, Sook, I feel bad enough."   "Seriously. You are wearing khakis. You look cray cray. You're like somebody's mom right now. Please explain this situation." "My boss said my outfit was too sexy so I had to borrow something from Le Skater Dork over there at the cafe. Jeez, now I owe her one. Oh crap Channel 1 News is here."   "Thanks John. Lavita

Zee Gypsies!

I'm home today, the kids are at school (half day), so I decided to take some pictures with my little window of time. I rarely show the gypsies and one of you guys requested it, so here they are! "Hello, I am Carmen Kirpachi. Welcome to our home." "This is my husband Milosh." "Hallo."  "This is my brother, Franco. While his gaje girlfriend Josephine is in Paris, he's spending a lot more time with us." "Excuse me, I have to put some more wood in the stove so I can get dinner started." "My goat stew is Milosh's favorite but we need to get the pot hot first." "This is my living area, also known as Franco's bedroom. But we don't mind. The Romany love having family around." "Milosh says I drive like a fugitive so he doesn't let me drive very often." "But sometimes I put a glamour on him and he forgets how much he hates my driving." "

Introducing Nymeria and the Alurium Vaccarra

Ever have a couple of days off Facebook and though you wonder what happened to your friends over the long weekend, you can help feeling a little peaceful? That's how I feel in my week of staying off the blogs and forums and various sites. But I missed a lot! So many cool posts! It's going to take a while to dig myself out. One must wonder, did my creative spurt have something to do with not being all over the web looking at what everyone else is doing? Anyway let's get to it. So on my birthday, my three Stardolls arrived! Aside from the outfit, that Paris one was not cute. I dunno, she's too boring looking. But Iris was THRILLED that she got a new, dressed doll. Well for a few minutes anyway. Did you know that they can't bend their legs? Like they can't sit down? Terrible. Anyway, the other two were great! Inspiring. Meet Valentina. A Columbiana who restores classic cars. She was very happy with a Liv body. She might be Nadia's next girlfriend, w
