TWO New Photostories

I know, can you believe it?  Neither are my best work, but these stories need to get told so I can move on.

This guy has been sitting in the shadows of Miho's apartment for like 6 months. I've been dying to introduce him but something always got in the way. Josephine even mentioned him at the bridal shower. That was supposed to push me, but I rebel against even myself:

Anyway, here we are. In the next segment, we'll find out more about Miho's past. Wait, I thought I could put a hyperlink in my photo. Whatever. Here.

Next is part two of the Bachelor Party, in which you find out why Hanna is sad. I think after all this mess, she's going to have to go back to Sweden for a while. I don't know who wants her in Grandville. But she'll return. We all need an antagonist!  Go here for part two (of at least three).  If you haven't read Part One, you might want to do that so you know what's going on.

smooches,
dani

  1. YAAAY! You have no idea how better you just made my day! Oooh, how romantic, Miho was involved with the yakuza, and Tipsey is smashing! Can't wait to see more of her.

    1. Thanks Verona! A long time ago, in a land far away, I used to be a writer, writing the worst novels ever. One was a detective/jewel thief novel. Tipsey Marlowe was the hero's best friend who betrayed her. She was such a fun villain, I had to bring her to life. Tipsey's look will be changing a lot, so she can have plenty of disguises...

  2. WOW! Even two stories? You're not spoiling us a little too much? ;) And what stories! I am always fascinated by what you can create with your dolls

    1. Hahah! Thanks Sergio. Honestly they were pretty rushed. I was thinking of photoshopping Tipsey in front of fire but I knew my edges are always pretty choppy. I finally just stood her in front of the computer screen. Easy! I'll be using that technique again soon!

  3. Yumi got a daddd-deee; Yumi got a daddd-deee. Cool story there. I LOVE Miho's Mom. The Fear family is very interesting ....

I love how you created Mama Fear from an R&D Susie (guessing ;-D) - I would not have thought to cast her as an older character, but she looks great in that role. Especially with the salt'n pepper hair.

Hanna is something else. Poor Sookie. Poor Felix ... don't know what side affects he might suffer from. I'll be back to read about it though, lol.

    1. Sometimes these dolls really surprise you. Mama Fear was just supposed to walk in and Norio would be confronted with the knowledge that he had a daughter. Mama Fear has seen some gangsters in her day. Miho never felt very loved by Mama Fear so this was a real turning point in their relationship.

    2. Oh and the Susie thing. Yes, she's a Comme ca du Mao Susie, though I wanted an Hanoi Hue Susie. I used to take doll magazines and cut pictures out for framing. So years ago, Miss Fear had Hanoi Hue Susie framed in her house and I decided it was her mother in her youth. So I had to get one for this character! Cat from Doll Affinity did the awesome re-root and I painted a few lines as best I could!

It's going to be hard for Dani and Felix to mend this. Sure, it wasn't his fault but it doesn't change the fact that she'll see that stripper every time she looks at him. I honestly don't know how it will end...

  4. You go girl! Two stories. That's so funny that you mentioned Mean Girls. That movie is sitting on the top of my TV right now. Your stories always make me laugh.

    1. Glad I could give you a chuckle Vanessa! I am just obsessed with high school movies. In brainstorming how the dolls could get revenge on Hanna, I kept thinking of that movie. Too bad you can't make a doll fat, not really...

  5. Mama Fear is the business! Talk about Granny don't play, lol, love her and her attitude. Did you make the furniture in that dio? It's very stylish. The action sequence in the second story grabbed me by my, "fire, pretty," balls!

    1. I know, I love Mama Fear! Someday you'll hear her story too. No I didn't make the furniture. That was Liz's Retros on etsy. Good, sturdy heavy stuff. She makes some great 1/6 scale mid-century clothing too.

New Goodies!

But first, some news: Projects: Still working on the studio space for Remi and Bailey. The Hubs came in and voiced what was in my head, "So where is that kid supposed to sleep? That's messed up. There's no room for him?"  The last thing I wanted in Grandville is a kid's room. I don't want this rated R world changing into something wholesome. Buuut, if there is to be a custody battle for Julian, I have to make the case, right? So on top of the studio space, I'll build a little room for the brat to use. Maybe I'll give it a fun theme or something. Space or sci-fi or something that doesn't involve sports. I'm also working on a space backdrop for Nymeria and her sister. Then I can finally introduce you. I decided to go with a sort of cheesy 60's sci fi movie thing. That's what inspired the Alurium Vaccarra anyway. So, a sort of intentionally cartoony backdrop. The last project for now is my high school. I wanted it to be a three-...

[in that spongebob narrator voice] Ten Years Later

Well friends, it's been 10 years!  I'm not sure if any of my older friends and followers still blog or still read blogs.  I've been in the BJD hobby all this time a while it was satisfying and helped me to grow a lot as a dioramist, the call of the 1/6 scale dolls called back to me.   It was hard to make stories for BJDs because of the limited number of characters and sets.  While I no longer have a town to make stories with, nor (hardly) any of my original dolls, my new collection continues to grow and some of them are just itching to tell you all about themselves.  But these heauxs don't even have names except for two.  So lemme get on that... Returning to this hobby feels a bit lonely. My doll community was here in the blogosphere, my BJD community was through youtube and Facebook. Where are you, racy playscale collectors?  Let's get back together!  Instagram feels unsuitable for my needs. I'll see if I can direct traffic here. Who k...

The Giveaway! And more.

You guys, let's talk. After I set up Grandville in the new house, I was sort of bored. I liked getting everyone unpacked but I really didn't feel like telling my stories, posing dolls, finding outfits for them. I didn't know where to take this doll thing next. And since my doll break at the end of last year, I've filled up my evenings with other things, especially Facebook where I remember I'm a writer again (in short blurbs). But what I don't feel like writing, are doll stories. I was at this doll crossroads, and already donating and trading away some good stuff when I became suddenly, surprisingly aware that I was (am) pregnant! How did this happen? Well I have a few ideas. I'm 37, I had been debating whether to have another. Sometimes, I swear, I'd be sitting with the girls and think I'm hearing a 3rd kid crying in the background. So that choice was made for me I'm very happy about it (and terrified). And the choice about dolls was made ...
