Unmotivated

Ever have one of those days? Where you are totally unmotivated to do ANYTHING. Even, gulp, doll things? That was my Sunday. I suppose all the hormones and such just made me feel down. All I wanted to do was watch TV. But we quit our TV addiction, so I mostly just whined.

Then the Hubs went out and got us a digital converter and antenna! We actually watched the Simpsons for the first time in ages. And realized, much to my horror 1. Iris loves Barney and 2. Barney was singing a version of Depeche Mode's Just Can't Get Enough. Okay TV, I'm going to start slow with you...

Anyway, I'll have some pics for you soonish. I practically have all of next week off so there is no excuse! (Except that whole carrying around another person thing)

Oh but on Saturday I finished my nightclub set and realized even more the awesome posability of action figure girls. Everyone else was tumbling over with the least agitation, but Dusty held strong in her dancing pose.

smooches,
dani

  1. Hey, I think you're being too hard on yourself Dani! It's a hobby, remember? Which means you should have fun---it's not a "have to do"! ;) (*says the girl who does that all the time LOL*)

Relax & take your time. Take pics when you can and when you feel like it. There's nothing wrong with having some down-time/ junkfood-for-the-mind time!

  2. Thanks CK. I haven't even gone near a doll all weekend. I do feel guilty. It's like the sooner I take a picture, the sooner I can re-pose them. They're frozen in time, poor things.

But it's my birthday weekend and I'm going to enjoy some family time and relaxation!

Still (and I'm sure you feel this way at times), there is a sort of emptiness and mild anxiety or restlessness that comes with NOT doing any crafty/doll related things...

Introducing Ayumi

I haven't been feeling particularly inspired with stories in Grandville, but their plastic lives are being led, with or without my story telling. And I have to practice my photography so instead I'm going to do a Cliff Notes if you will, of what has been going on in Grandville and who all these new characters are. First up, Ayumi. I might give her a new name at some point. I hate keeping the Integrity name but sometimes it just happens. She is a Korean supermodel who uses her funds to support her research as an astrophysicist. She got her Ph.D. at 18. This is Ayumi's house. Well, one of them. This is Ayumi's boyfriend of 10 months, Raj Nirvana. He's a yoga instructor. They have a harmonious relationship. Still, she wonders about that girl Marie. They seem to do a lot of talking after his yoga class. Ayumi loves hanging out with her girls. Nothing quite as fun as a day of shopping. Claire sighs, "How weird to have a bank account. ...

New Goodies!

But first, some news: Projects: Still working on the studio space for Remi and Bailey. The Hubs came in and voiced what was in my head, "So where is that kid supposed to sleep? That's messed up. There's no room for him?"  The last thing I wanted in Grandville is a kid's room. I don't want this rated R world changing into something wholesome. Buuut, if there is to be a custody battle for Julian, I have to make the case, right? So on top of the studio space, I'll build a little room for the brat to use. Maybe I'll give it a fun theme or something. Space or sci-fi or something that doesn't involve sports. I'm also working on a space backdrop for Nymeria and her sister. Then I can finally introduce you. I decided to go with a sort of cheesy 60's sci fi movie thing. That's what inspired the Alurium Vaccarra anyway. So, a sort of intentionally cartoony backdrop. The last project for now is my high school. I wanted it to be a three-...

[in that spongebob narrator voice] Ten Years Later

Well friends, it's been 10 years!  I'm not sure if any of my older friends and followers still blog or still read blogs.  I've been in the BJD hobby all this time a while it was satisfying and helped me to grow a lot as a dioramist, the call of the 1/6 scale dolls called back to me.   It was hard to make stories for BJDs because of the limited number of characters and sets.  While I no longer have a town to make stories with, nor (hardly) any of my original dolls, my new collection continues to grow and some of them are just itching to tell you all about themselves.  But these heauxs don't even have names except for two.  So lemme get on that... Returning to this hobby feels a bit lonely. My doll community was here in the blogosphere, my BJD community was through youtube and Facebook. Where are you, racy playscale collectors?  Let's get back together!  Instagram feels unsuitable for my needs. I'll see if I can direct traffic here. Who k...
