Theft Can't Get Us Down!

Well, here's an update. About 60% of the music that was lost were downloaded or ripped from CD's that we do still have (so instead of lugging around a bunch of CDs just to play selected tracks), and thankfully those are still on our computers. So just a few hundred CDs to replace as well as the equipment.

And anyway, he had been bidding on some stuff on ebay that he won after the theft, so we did have to luxuriate a bit more. Then I think he felt bad that I never got my Barbie airplane, so he scored one really cheap today. Hurray!

I'm so not in the mindset for Dolly U right now, but if I was paying for it, I would still have to do it, so I'm not going to let this stop me.

I've been reading the rerooting book by Donna Anne and I'm excited to get started on that but I can't afford the tools and hair yet, so, we'll see.

Obviously the airplane will get a revamp but I hesitate to make it an assignment until I've done some research on mod 60's airline culture.

Until then, I leave you with this:

  1. Do you have her How to Style doll Hair book? How do you like it?

  2. I do have that one. I like it, but I haven't tried any of the tricks yet. I'd say it's worth it for a beginner but the actual styles are limited: layered, razor cut, curls, dreads. I still don't know how to cut proper bangs...Still, I think it was worth the price.

Introducing Ayumi

I haven't been feeling particularly inspired with stories in Grandville, but their plastic lives are being led, with or without my story telling. And I have to practice my photography so instead I'm going to do a Cliff Notes if you will, of what has been going on in Grandville and who all these new characters are. First up, Ayumi. I might give her a new name at some point. I hate keeping the Integrity name but sometimes it just happens. She is a Korean supermodel who uses her funds to support her research as an astrophysicist. She got her Ph.D. at 18. This is Ayumi's house. Well, one of them. This is Ayumi's boyfriend of 10 months, Raj Nirvana. He's a yoga instructor. They have a harmonious relationship. Still, she wonders about that girl Marie. They seem to do a lot of talking after his yoga class. Ayumi loves hanging out with her girls. Nothing quite as fun as a day of shopping. Claire sighs, "How weird to have a bank account. ...

Grandville Summer Festival!

Hello doll friends, First up, I gotta show you this. My 4 year old was playing with my Barbie cast-offs and set up this little scene. (That yellow thing on the table is a TV shaped eraser.) Dig the lamp she made with a wedding cake and the pole from maybe a Barbie dress form? Adorbs. Anyway, this weather (raining pretty much daily for the last month or so) has wrecked my spray painting plans. Much of the royal storyline rests on this painting project. So for now I decided to continue the other stories I have going. Enjoy: "Ho-ly crap, what on earth are you wearing?" "Aw, Sook, I feel bad enough."   "Seriously. You are wearing khakis. You look cray cray. You're like somebody's mom right now. Please explain this situation." "My boss said my outfit was too sexy so I had to borrow something from Le Skater Dork over there at the cafe. Jeez, now I owe her one. Oh crap Channel 1 News is here."   "Thanks John. Lavita...

New Goodies!

But first, some news: Projects: Still working on the studio space for Remi and Bailey. The Hubs came in and voiced what was in my head, "So where is that kid supposed to sleep? That's messed up. There's no room for him?"  The last thing I wanted in Grandville is a kid's room. I don't want this rated R world changing into something wholesome. Buuut, if there is to be a custody battle for Julian, I have to make the case, right? So on top of the studio space, I'll build a little room for the brat to use. Maybe I'll give it a fun theme or something. Space or sci-fi or something that doesn't involve sports. I'm also working on a space backdrop for Nymeria and her sister. Then I can finally introduce you. I decided to go with a sort of cheesy 60's sci fi movie thing. That's what inspired the Alurium Vaccarra anyway. So, a sort of intentionally cartoony backdrop. The last project for now is my high school. I wanted it to be a three-...
