The End of the Spendthrift

Well my friends, Year of Luxury is coming to a close. Year of Prosperity shall begin soon.  This year has been so about buying that I nearly forgot what I did before! So let me tell you what new topics will be discussed here since it won't be Acquisitions!

The Cheapskate:

I'm going to make it my mission to find doll deals wherever I can. If I can't buy it for $40 or cheaper, I will not get it. Unless it's really really really good. Hee!

Seamstressing and all that:
Did I tell you that my mom said I would inherit her sewing room? This is what happens when you're the family artist, not that I'm complaining. It's an honor. I come from a long line of seamstresses but as someone who has little spacial reasoning, I'm not sure how well I'll do at this. But anyway, I'll be sewing instead of buying (many) doll clothes.

Design Inspiration:
Let's make a list of all the things I was supposed to build or decorate: Holly Golightly's apartment, The Airplane, Lighthouse, fairy tale cottage, Evelyn's Condo.  Are any of these complete? No! But I love thinking of new things to do and researching inspiration so there will be posts about things I want to do or things that would look neat in doll world and how I would do it and what products are out there to help. Then maybe someone else will do it and I can just enjoy looking at it.

Photography:
I have been meaning to get back to photostories but what is more important is working on my photography skills. No point in telling a story if everyone's blurry.

Sales!
In meeting trading buddies this year I have realized that my trash is someone's treasure. So I'm selling off all the stuff I don't use. I set up a Doll Page but I'll probably start using Ebay and maybe Etsy if I'm allowed to call it "vintage" or whatever the rules are. It's the Year of Prosperity, I gotta get off my butt and make it happen.

So that is what is on the horizon for Vita Plastica during the Year of Prosperity.

Now to do a recap the Year of Luxury post. A lot of people do the Best Purchases of 2010 type of blog posts. This will be like that. That and selfishly daydreaming about the time I could afford dolls. What I will not do is calculate what I have spent. That will just hurt my feelings!

  1. I'm looking forward to seeing how your year works out with the $40. budget per doll.

  2. You can do it. I've done it for years. I set my limits and go from there. It will be interesting to see how you do :O)

  3. I'm impressed that you are planning so far in advance. I can't wait to see what transpires. I also can't wait to see what the Year of Luxury brought.

  4. Well if I set myself of a budget of $40 per month, then maybe I can cheat by skipping a month! heehee. But I think I'm going to cool it on the dolls and focus more on quality clothing, a few furnishings here and there and things to be use for craft work.

Grandville Summer Festival!

Hello doll friends, First up, I gotta show you this. My 4 year old was playing with my Barbie cast-offs and set up this little scene. (That yellow thing on the table is a TV shaped eraser.) Dig the lamp she made with a wedding cake and the pole from maybe a Barbie dress form? Adorbs. Anyway, this weather (raining pretty much daily for the last month or so) has wrecked my spray painting plans. Much of the royal storyline rests on this painting project. So for now I decided to continue the other stories I have going. Enjoy: "Ho-ly crap, what on earth are you wearing?" "Aw, Sook, I feel bad enough."   "Seriously. You are wearing khakis. You look cray cray. You're like somebody's mom right now. Please explain this situation." "My boss said my outfit was too sexy so I had to borrow something from Le Skater Dork over there at the cafe. Jeez, now I owe her one. Oh crap Channel 1 News is here."   "Thanks John. Lavita

Zee Gypsies!

I'm home today, the kids are at school (half day), so I decided to take some pictures with my little window of time. I rarely show the gypsies and one of you guys requested it, so here they are! "Hello, I am Carmen Kirpachi. Welcome to our home." "This is my husband Milosh." "Hallo."  "This is my brother, Franco. While his gaje girlfriend Josephine is in Paris, he's spending a lot more time with us." "Excuse me, I have to put some more wood in the stove so I can get dinner started." "My goat stew is Milosh's favorite but we need to get the pot hot first." "This is my living area, also known as Franco's bedroom. But we don't mind. The Romany love having family around." "Milosh says I drive like a fugitive so he doesn't let me drive very often." "But sometimes I put a glamour on him and he forgets how much he hates my driving." "

Introducing Nymeria and the Alurium Vaccarra

Ever have a couple of days off Facebook and though you wonder what happened to your friends over the long weekend, you can help feeling a little peaceful? That's how I feel in my week of staying off the blogs and forums and various sites. But I missed a lot! So many cool posts! It's going to take a while to dig myself out. One must wonder, did my creative spurt have something to do with not being all over the web looking at what everyone else is doing? Anyway let's get to it. So on my birthday, my three Stardolls arrived! Aside from the outfit, that Paris one was not cute. I dunno, she's too boring looking. But Iris was THRILLED that she got a new, dressed doll. Well for a few minutes anyway. Did you know that they can't bend their legs? Like they can't sit down? Terrible. Anyway, the other two were great! Inspiring. Meet Valentina. A Columbiana who restores classic cars. She was very happy with a Liv body. She might be Nadia's next girlfriend, w
