What I've been up to

Well my people, I said I wasn't interested in Monster High, right? I certainly don't want and can't afford get caught up on another type of doll that cannot share Barbie's clothes.  But while doing a casting call for my alien girl, I decided I really couldn't use the Monsieur Z I was going to use. So glad I didn't give her an acetone wipe!

So after going to the Figurevore forum and looking around for ideas, I came up on another user who was working on a sci-fi tale. She used a Monster High Body. My girl is supposed to be half  grey-type alien and half human so the silhouette is just perfect.

I told the Hubs I needed a Monster High girl for my bday (on the 22nd) but he had to choose between Lagoona, Ghoulia and Frankie. They all had the sort of color I was looking for. He came up with the perfect choice in Lagoona. She is my favorite.

So I ripped open the box 12 days early, stripped her down and before I could fall in love with those big eyes, removed all her face paint and hair. Man, that hair is glued in with some sticky muck!  Anyway instead of looking scary like Barbie when she is bare-faced, she just looks like she's sleeping. Such a pretty girl, even without a face. She looks like a beautiful African sculpture. Just looking at her makes me so inspired.

Now I'm obsessed with Monster High and I'm forced to buy all of them. Several of all of them. And make them all clothes and repaint them all! But they will not be characters. They will just be repainted and styled and sold? Hey, do Clawdeen's ears come out?

Did I mention I don't know how to repaint? No matter, they have big heads (that I used to hate) so I have lots of room to practice.

This girl, Nymeria (I'm a Game of Thrones fan) will be my first.

Here are a few shots of her:

The cylinder thing will have a table top upon which the magick stone that powers the ship will rest. (through the window, those are tomatoes, bananas and a nightlight in a silver bowl. Looks alien, right?)

 The control panel.
Here is my muse. She will get a reroot and a repaint soon. And I'm totally going to use cheap paint because this is a Use What You Got challenge for me and I just bought so much acetone, I'm not scared anymore.

This is taken through the window.
Okay just wanted to send an update. Still a lot of work to do on Nymeria and her ship, the Alurium Vaccarra. (That name just came to me one day, I hope I didn't steal it from somewhere...)

smooches!

  3. If you're in need of alien looking space pictures (as backgrounds for the windows or such) go have a look at APOD (Astronomy Picture of the Day). They have awesome pictures from space and sometimes really weird (in a good way) looking ones taken here on Earth:

  5. Thanks guys! You know, Cat, when adorable dolls are $10, I'm not sure how I can fight my desire. And the props! So cute. Thanks Amithi! I was wondering what I was going to do for the window views. I'll check it out.

  6. Love the last pic. The great thing about them is their posabillity. I only have one still in her box. They have the hottest shoes!

Introducing Ayumi

I haven't been feeling particularly inspired with stories in Grandville, but their plastic lives are being led, with or without my story telling. And I have to practice my photography so instead I'm going to do a Cliff Notes if you will, of what has been going on in Grandville and who all these new characters are. First up, Ayumi. I might give her a new name at some point. I hate keeping the Integrity name but sometimes it just happens. She is a Korean supermodel who uses her funds to support her research as an astrophysicist. She got her Ph.D. at 18. This is Ayumi's house. Well, one of them. This is Ayumi's boyfriend of 10 months, Raj Nirvana. He's a yoga instructor. They have a harmonious relationship. Still, she wonders about that girl Marie. They seem to do a lot of talking after his yoga class. Ayumi loves hanging out with her girls. Nothing quite as fun as a day of shopping. Claire sighs, "How weird to have a bank account. ...

Zee Gypsies!

I'm home today, the kids are at school (half day), so I decided to take some pictures with my little window of time. I rarely show the gypsies and one of you guys requested it, so here they are! "Hello, I am Carmen Kirpachi. Welcome to our home." "This is my husband Milosh." "Hallo."  "This is my brother, Franco. While his gaje girlfriend Josephine is in Paris, he's spending a lot more time with us." "Excuse me, I have to put some more wood in the stove so I can get dinner started." "My goat stew is Milosh's favorite but we need to get the pot hot first." "This is my living area, also known as Franco's bedroom. But we don't mind. The Romany love having family around." "Milosh says I drive like a fugitive so he doesn't let me drive very often." "But sometimes I put a glamour on him and he forgets how much he hates my driving." ...

Ugh whatever. Just, here!

Folks, lemme tell you, I am so tired of my little big project. The big stuff was easy (spray painting and such). That was over weeks and weeks ago. It's been the small stuff. And I'm still nowhere near done but I'll do the rest in Phase Two (Bailey and Remi's wedding). I miss my dolls so hard. I have two new beauties I haven't even taken shots of. I have pretty new clothes that just sit around, unworn, unappreciated, unphotographed. Stories untold! All for this shizz. Before: And today, Grandville's food truck, Enchanted Eats! Lights! "Lavita Terrell here for Channel One News, Grandville. I'm here with Mistress Ava Stronghold in front her food truck, Enchanted Eats!" "Mistress Ava, food trucks are so last week. Why bother? What makes Enchanted Eats different?" "I've got to disagree Lavita. Food trucks have been around as long as humans have had markets. They're just taking a new form. I thin...
