Photostories!

Happy New Year everyone! I've been a bit obsessed with Comic Life since I received it for Christmas. I never realized that not reading comic books can really limit you when you start to create one. Or maybe it gives you total freedom... But it's definitely different than just writing captions, which is what I was doing for a while. You really have to be succinct. Forget all the long speeches. I mean, I know it's possible. The Hubs, a comic FANATIC told me I could just use the same image 5 times and have this long speech. But I know I don't like reading all that, so I'm going to try to avoid that. Unless it's needed for comic value. So anyway, check out the new Vita Plastica site at weebly. Weebly is a bit aggravating to use but hey, it's free. Maybe one of these days I'll buy a domain but until then, I'll deal with the limitations. Anyway I've got loads of character introductions and a couple of photostories. Hope it gives you a good laugh! Muc...

Origin Story/The Future of Vita Plastica

Hi you guys. Tell me: How did you get into doll life? Leave a comment or blog about it. For me it was Indian Barbie. This was about 14 years ago: Being at the time obsessed with India and having never grown up with a Barbie that wasn't either black or blonde, I was amazed by her. I was just walking through Target minding my own business and there she was. I thought she was gorgeous. I named her Pria. I took a few pictures of her but without proper furniture it looked silly. And without fellow dolls, she was a useless knick knack. For the next several years, I would buy lots of dolls and furniture, then get sick of it and give them all away to my niece. I did this 2-3 times. Finally my niece grew up, packed it all up and gave it back to me. I did a couple of silly photostories, but mostly just posed them and didn't name anyone. I moved to NY and started doing a couple of silly photostories and making oh just the saddest looking sets ever: Then I found Fashion Royalty. I was sudd...

New Photostory!

Okay so I'm telling you that for nothing because I just don't have a good method of presenting it to you. My rarely used website www.vitaplastica.weebly.com is just no good. Last time I put my captions in, they all mysteriously deleted. Plus you had to click on every picture to view the caption and they posted out of order anyway. Using Flickr is okay I guess, I've seen it done, but I confess that I don't really like Flickr. One of these days I'll get another website on my own. Just seems silly to spend the money on a website that isn't making me money. So I think I really have to buy Comic Life and get to work! I have so many old photostories, from back when I had never even heard of Fashion Royalty. Or realism. I'd love to get those up in some kind of archive. I'm still not happy with my photography, I totally broke one of my new lights. Photography is taking the fun out of photostories, but I know it's necessary. I also miss crafty doll work so ma...

My Kinda Doll Collecting

Hello fellow collectors, I've been on the sidelines watching all of you for about a year now and it's time for me to get my voice (and pictures) out there too. And since most of you are really supportive and loving, I'm sure you'll forgive my amateur attempt at interior design/accessories customization. From what it looks like a lot of you break down into different categories when it comes to your doll collecting (with many of you overlapping): -Retailers -Photographers -Fashion Designers -Interior Designers -Furniture Makers -Story Makers I myself fall into the last category. Where as some of you have a collection of fashion models with beautiful clothing and backdrops, I am dealing with a lotta personalities. They totally dictate how a photo story might go. (You know what I'm talking about story makers). Since watching all of you in various doll magazines or on various sites, I admit to being totally overcome with insane jealousy. What are you people, all rich? Wh...
