Ms. Fear's New Hair

Presenting: My second reroot! Considerably easier and faster than the last. I'm already working on my next. Ms. Fear's new hair! Sexy, right? I still have  to style her. A little trim, a thatched part and maybe I'll give her bangs again. Homegirl has a fivehead. Yeah so in an excited fit of acetone removal, I took off most of her blue shadow but also an bit of her eyebrows. Sorry Atsumi! They'll be back and even better. I just want to keep that angry angle. So I have to reroot my Poppy Parker, Miss Fear's Mom and Sugar (decided against dreadlocks for her. Just going to have big wild mohair hair. The locks will be another doll's head.) But in between all these reroots, Dani and Felix get a home renovation! Before: Now:   I can't wait to get to work on this. I'm still glued to HGTV but I'm thinking of a neutral color for the downstairs since it's all open now. Maybe a gray. Or maybe that blue I have upstairs. Adding crown molding,...

My First Reroot

Okay technically speaking I never actually announced that this was an assignment. So I'm sorry if any of you were following along. I guess I figured since I totally avoided my vehicle assignment, I might as well do something else productive. So I'll put the details on my site http://www.vitaplastica.com/hair.html I think by now you're familiar with June, my transsexual. She finally got her reroot completed. I even thatched a new part in her hair. Though, really, I should have painted her head first. Okay not the most awesome reroot I've ever seen but for a my first time, I'm pretty happy. BUT, despite myself, ever since I cut those brunette hanks off, June has been giving me a total straight guy vibe. The Hubs says it's the Harley body. Sorry June, you're not allowed to throw off my story line again. So I pierced her ears. Now I feel better. Dang, this gal needs some clothes! Even Ms. Fear's old top is insufficient. But Dusty 's pants work out okay...

2.5 Sweet Hours of Freedom

My husband's friend was having a barbecue this weekend. There are few things in this world that I dread more than social situations. So I was delighted when my husband told me that I could avoid it and he would take both the kids to make an appearance. Sweet bountiful freedom!!! I was so psyched to get some doll work done, but what? I had to manage that time well. Two and a half hours moves quickly when you're working on doll things. So I started at nap time, sorting my "to be filed" bits of clothes and shoes that I never put in their proper home after using them. I spray painted that washer/dryer set I got recently as well as a bar I just received in an exchange.  I moved Dani's house down from the unreachable location where I had moved it. Clearing out space in the doll room is as dangerous as a big purse. You just KNOW you're going to fill it with stuff.  Anyway, Dani is the next doll (after Ms. Fear) to get attention, so I need her house close by. T...

An Extension

I finally got the opportunity to spray paint my airplane this weekend. It's looking pretty good so far. But customizing it the way I want is going to take some time. I'd love to find a nice leather-like fabric for the chairs and carpeting that is both retro and futuristic. And really after watching a million HGTV shows (just got our cable back after a couple of years of devout anti-televisionism), I need to work on layering, layering, layering. I want the airplane to look minimal, but I definitely need too work on my eye for detail! So I've gotten a jump on the Hair chapter. I ordered from Dolly Hair, but their customer service leaves a bit to be desired. So while I wanted to hear back from them, I decided to get my hair needs from Restore Doll . What a great decision. They had what I need (doll needles) without having to buy a "kit". And I was able to find the hair color I need in stock and it arrived in like a day! I will definitely shop there again. I have thr...

Sugar On Top

Let's talk about Sugar. She's Byron Lars Sugar Barbie. What a beauty. I got her in 2005 I think and I loved her. This was the first time I had seen "natural" hair on a Barbie and on a light skinned doll at that! She was best friends with Aoki who we will discuss in a moment. I loved Sugar. Her heinous flocked gloves were awful. As soon as I learned to rebody, I gave her the bod of that preggo Barbie. She married Chad the trumpet player (some kind of old Integrity doll with a Drag Queen "Ken" body). They even had a kid, but that made her so boring, I had to go back in time and undo it. She had become something of a B-lister in my doll world.  Chad had joined a new band, had a group of new hipster friends and Sugar became a character you never see anymore. That "natural" hair had become a frizzy mess. I had no idea how to take care of it. So I had the STUPID idea to dump a little boiling water on it to "relax" it. Stupid! She ...

The Airplane and Other Big Projects

The Site:  Poor Vita Plastica, the website. It gets no love. Blogs are so immediate and changeable. But for that reason, I wanted to post more of the Dolly University assignments so if you're interested, you don't have to check some buried post.  While I was there, I reorganized some things, made a banner to go up. Looking pretty sweet so far. One of these days I really need to buy the domain name. I really hadn't had a reason until now. More on that later. But for now, go check out okay? www.vitaplastica.weebly.com Pan Em Air I really don't know if I can be done with this airplane by my due date (July 13th) but I did a fair amount of work on it this weekend. I have never done this before and I hope it won't come back to haunt me, but I took it all apart. I will get a better paint job this way I think. Of course, I have to be sure not to add too many layers of paint or it will never come back together. Lemme just tell you, GooGone is my new bestie. Now ev...
